It all depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. When I first started working online, I experimented with a ton of things: freelance writing (Upwork), freelance web development (which I wasn’t very skilled in — Upwork and PeoplePerHour), teaching online (VIPKID), and virtual assistant work.

At the time, I was looking for online work to supplement my full-time income.

Nowadays, DollarSprout is my full-time “online job” — I work for the company remotely from home.

If you’re looking for supplemental income like what I was at first, then I would just start putting offers out there any place you can. Try a bunch of stuff and see what sticks!

If you’re looking for a full-time remote or online job, then get really clear on your skills and the position you want to land. Then search online (LinkedIn, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, company websites, etc.), find the positions you want to apply for, and tailor your resume and cover letter for those companies/jobs using the job description and language from the company’s website. This takes more time, but it will significantly increase your chances of landing an interview.

There’s no one-size-fits all answer when it comes to making money online. It all depends on your skills, needs, and goals. I hope that helps!
