Here is a link to the National Verifier to apply for Lifeline. If you qualify, there is an assistance program in effect called “Emergency Broadband Benefit” provided by the FCC due to Covid. If you qualify for Lifeline, you automatically qualify for EBB. Once you qualify and have a number provided by the program, you can then go to PCs for People which is a low-cost mobile Wifi internet program that also qualifies you for a one-time $100 EBB benefit for a PC or laptop. You have to purchase a Wifi modem. In all, you can get everything you need from PCs for People, a computer, a modem, and mobile Wifi service (make sure T-Mobile provides service in your area) for an initial out-of-pocket investment of less than $100. And once the EBB program runs out of funds, PCs for People internet at the time of this writing is $15 a month, pretty affordable, and you need to be below is 200% of poverty for continued service.
